Dr. Shelley Skopit
Dr. Shelley Skopit received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2003. She completed her clinical year of veterinary school at The University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine. In addition to focusing primarily on small animal medicine and surgery, Dr. Skopit also completed externships at the National Zoo's Conservation and Research Center in Virginia and the Wildlife Safari in Oregon.
Dr. Skopit's main interest is in internal medicine, including integrative and complementary medicine. She recently completed her coursework to become certified in veterinary acupuncture through the Chi Institute of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM), in Reddick, FL. As part of the TCVM approach, she was also given an introduction to the use of Chinese herbs, Chinese massage techniques, and diet therapy, which can be integrated with traditional Western medicine and acupuncture, as needed.
Dr. Skopit lives in northern Westchester with her husband, whom she met in veterinary school. They have a golden retriever, "Beemer", a border collie mix, "Ottley" and a cat, "Cisco". Dr. Skopit's hobbies include baking & cake decorating, photography, reading, traveling, hiking, and dabbling in baking unique, natural dog biscuits!
